If Joe Biden talked about executing a general, it would be evidence that he's gone insane and used as an excuse for why people absolutely could not vote for him.

If the Dems ousted the speaker because Jayapal threw a tantrum, it would be evidence that the progressives ruled the party and were so out of step that Dems couldn't be trusted with power.

And yet, I have a sense that this insanity won't show up in the Biden-Trump polling *at all*. And that R's will still do okay in the House in 2024 and probably pick up a Senate seat or two.

Because Biden is old or something? I guess?

No because republicans as a party is corrupt and its voters are dumbasses. Isn’t obvious? Why not just say it? Quit teasing it.

Let's see what happens in Virginia. If the dems do well I am just going to ignore polling this cycle because that combined with the special election results and 2022 results indicate to me that polling is fundamentally broken for some reason.

Trump is almost as old as Biden, so it's defitely the "or something." Which is a near-electoral majority of voters addicted to celebrity worship, and so paranoid of "the left" (which now includes Pence, Christie, etc.) that they have sold their souls to their "savior."

This may not impact Trump much, but I do think the performance of the GOP House is going to cost them a significant number of seats.

Keep fighting the good fight, JVL: 'Take now this Ring,' he said; 'for thy labours and thy cares will be heavy, but in all it will support thee and defend thee from weariness. For this is the Ring of Fire, and herewith, maybe, thou shalt rekindle hearts to the valour of old in a world that grows chill. '

If the Democratic Presidential wasn’t old he’d be a crooked woman, or a Black Muslim, or Anti-Vietnam War or a crazed candidate warning about this global warming myth, or had Vince Fostered murdered. If we accept a negative script, Biden is old, while the other side rejects the equally obviously bad narrative, Trump is crooked old narcissistic sociopath, we put ourselves at a disadvantage.

I feel like this will have some impact, not with the MAGA crowd, but with independents and the GOP that is wishing for something else. Maybe not a lot, but perhaps enough.

I think there will be a lot of impact because we’re going to see a lot of chaos. The House can’t do anything without a Speaker, but who are they going to pick? Who would want that job? If they pick someone sane, the crazies will oppose him. Someone crazy won’t want the job because it’s more fun to throw rocks from the sidelines. I don’t see them picking someone for quite some time.

If we are very lucky, this will speed the GOP’s self destruction and we can try to rebuild a new conservative party from the rubble.

I heard this morning, on NPR, one of the GOP members who voted to keep McCarthy says that they will be hearing from the nominees on Tuesday and will be voting and selecting a new Speaker on Wednesday. Only if the "moderate" GOP members take the Freedom Caucus to task, because these extremists are not going away anytime soon.
