No better example than Rick Scott whose company committed almost a billion dollar Medicare fraud, never spent a second in jail and ended up getting elected governor and senator in Florida

Why can presidents pardon jury decisions, anyway? Seems like something that was begging to be politicized and abused. If no man if above the law, then too, no man should be able to overturn a lawful decision.

Clearly the right-wing podcasters are on the take. Someone is paying them to advocate for this guy. They're happy to do it because white guys ripping off public services is a good thing in MAGA's book. In their view all the money should go to these "clever" (in their warped little minds) frausters and not to those all those undeserving poor people who foolishly (again from their twisted perspective) play by the rules.

Rick Scott became Governor of Florida, then was elected.to become a US Senator...after committing one of the largest Medicare frauds in History. So why be surprised this Medicare fraudster is seeking release? It's the Republican way...

As a post-mortem of propaganda and delusional/non-critical thinking this round up is splendid. Changing subjects, esp. liked the essay on Turkish/Armenian antipathy in the footnotes. "Doctor" Oz, yes, long ago. I think of him as Huckster OZ.

I find it amazing that when discussing Medicare/Medicaid fraud no one talks to Florida Senator Rick Scott whose company made the largest (at the time) fraud settlement with the federal government in history. It seems to me he should know all about it.

thanks for the details Mr. Sommer

I'm pretty sure that a lot of convicts also like puppies. That doesn't absolve them of their crimes, just puts lipstick on the pig. McCubbins' guilty plea should be enforced, he should go to jail, and the issue of actual fraud in Medicare continue to be investigated and prosecuted. What strikes me most is how all of the MAGAe influencers are "on message." I guess the Republican messaging machine has well and truly penetrated the dark side of public debate, deploying troops when needed. I only wish the Dems had such a system to control the narrative.

"Dr." Oz going after Armenian-Americans? Gee, what great optics

bitchybitchybitchy's avatar

Is this writer really surprised by this effort? It's only a crime if the fraud can be pinned on someone that MAGA hates, and MAGA sure doesn't hate wealthy white men.

White supremacism is a core MAGA value.

Can’t make this stuff up. If your assigned crime number is low, expect a pardon regardless of the crime. Crime numbers are determined by MAGA podcasters so you know they are right!

Please stop calling these people "influencers". It gives them an air of importance they don't deserve, and it's just juvenile. Call them "activists", if you must.

Doc Oz shenanigans will certainly inspire the Trump administration to send future failed GOP Cali. Governor candidate (the annoying Brit not the kook sherif) to investigate fraud in Boston's Irish communities.

I’m shocked, shocked! There is hypocrisy going on in MAGA influencer land.

Will, do you have any insights into Clavicular’s recent run of bad behavior? I see from the New York Times he was shooting at alligators in the Everglades.

Is this just an influencer who needs to do more crazy stunts to get clicks or is this guy spiraling out of control? Whatever it is, it does not seem like this is going to end well.

I think it's probably a bit of both! Streamers do need to constantly be upping the ante, which in Clavicular's case can lead him into dicey situations (see: his new relationship with the Israeli mob).

You have to keep in mind this charges dates back to before Clavicular's overdose. Now he claims to have cleaned up his act, and presumably won't shoot any more gators. Are the Everglades really safe from Clavicular? We shall see.

Is anyone or anyplace really safe from Clavicular?

This is hilarious (if horrifying) and truly vintage False Flag content.

The snippet below really caught my attention - waving around an appalling action by Trump as a justification for a slightly less appalling action is one way to make an argument, also interesting because most of this guy's followers probably didn't even know about the original pardon of Hernandez.

“The Honduran president caught helping cartels move 500 tons of cocaine into America was recently pardoned,” Finman wrote on X. “Okay. Meanwhile this man who went into the field rescuing 100+ children from trafficking rings is staring down real prison time.”

Also, the below is an amazing way to end the piece - gotta respect this guy's efforts to shoehorn McCubbins into everything.

“A true man of action,” Kew wrote of Norris. “Not enough of them in this world. Andrew McCubbins is a man of action as well.”
