Interesting topic and one that gets lots of play and little substance when push comes to shove. I am a Humphrey democrat, loved that guy. He spoke for the average working person, spoke for the minorities and wasn't afraid to reach across the aisles. When i watch where we are today, i find myself stunned how politician's like trump are some how the working man's hero.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Politics and reality have no connection. Emotions trigger so much of it, hype and hyperbole are essential in "winning" the war of voters minds. That's where it all breaks down. Democrat's do a really lousy job the minute they get in front of a mic or on television.

I've spent the last 6 years screaming at my TV as news channels have shown us Dems who have a hell of a time coming off as real. They think sound bites are solutions. Throw into the mix the "progressives" who think "free everything" is the answer and i grow weary of where we are and resentful of how we got here.

Consequently when we see that rare occasion where politician's forget the camera and become real, become human, we attach to them. And to be clear, i don't even care any more which party they belong to. Politics has changed to performance art, politician's are selected based on fitting the mold. It's sickening and is helping destroy the country.

I suspect there is little that can be done come this fall. The bigger question truly becomes 2024. Biden is toast, Harris is nowhere. While i hate to say this, the best outcome i see is a viable third party candidate, one who isn't picture perfect, but is humanly acceptable and relatable. How refreshing would that be?

OK Boomer - you've outed yourself with Humphrey. I know because I'm a Boomer who loved him as well. The closest I find today, but is not a politician, is Carville - willing to say what's on his mind and not mince words, not care about being politically correct. I've heard others denigrate him, but I think he nails what is going on in either party as good as it gets...
