Personal note to Mark Elias: I have no degree in mathematics. I am not a scientist. But the last time I checked, +1/2 > 0.

I'll take the positive side of zero every time.

Agreed. Take the half a loaf over nothing.

I guess I just donтАЩt understand what he wants us to do that would actually pass the senate. If nothing than is worse or better. Honestly IтАЩm more confused than when we started this conversation. Good to know how little I know though

I won't kill the ants I found in the kitchen this morning (TRUE!) because I can't find the nest or the queen. So, why bother? Elias must be an absolute bear to live with if he expects 100% perfection in his life!

This posture seems like a mash up of toddler behavior and middle school behavior. "If I can't have all of it, I don't want any of it." So there!

Bi-partisan agreement that election integrity matters is a lot more than nothing.

As I understood the agreement, it is bi-partisan.

Agreed. Not sure why some people feel the need to hold out for everything when that is not an option. Better half or a quarter of something useful than 100 percent of nothing.

Oh I get it. Given what you pasted from him, I can see the problem. What I was asking: is it better than what we have because I think we know we arenтАЩt getting тАЬmoreтАЭ than this (re: legislation). To be honest, I have no idea. That was more what I was thinking/badly asking.

Yeah, what does one of (if not THE) most pre-eminent election law experts in the country actually know about [checks notes] election law anyway??? My personal thoughts on the matter clearly trump his because neither of us have a strong grounding in "hard sciences" and thus apparently no "expertise" at all!

Look, I disagree with Elias on the merits of this issue because I do think "something" is better than nothing. Where I depart with Charlie and others here (and elsewhere) is that this is a complete "fix" of the ECA, or sufficient for electoral/voting protections generally.

Yup. The me-generation wants it, and their parents convinced them that if they whine, cry, pout, etc., enough they'll get it all. Most kids figure out the real world doesn't work like that, but far too many haven't.

Out of curiosity, which generation are you defining as the 'me-generation'? Google tells me it is the boomers.
