BTW, originally the ad campaign was called "real American heroes". But then 9-11 happened and the ad agencies had to change it lest people call it an insult to first responders.

Do you think the DeSantis campaign realizes that "GRD" sounds an awful lot like the acronym for gastro-esophogeal reflux disorder, GERD? (barfing into one's own mouth)

Why do Trump's Republican rivals let him get away with saying the 2020 election was stolen without pointing out that he was president for 4 years leading up to it -- so if it happened it means he was terrible at his job?

I had never seen the "Real Men of Genius" ad about farting. Thanks for raising the tone of discussion! 😘

Loved the podcast with Tim Miller yesterday. It was a best political stand-up I've heard in quite awhile!

Grammar Nazi here: The DeSantis strategy doesn't "wreak" of desperation. It "reeks" of desperation. Perhaps it could be said that the DeSantis strategy will "wreak" havoc with his campaign.

Re: "The Silence of the Dems? Joe Klein thinks that Democrats should be a bit louder"

Why bother to point out now the obvious self evidence that DJT is a gangsta? The way to catch a big ugly bottom dwelling saprophyte spineless eel is to give'em enough line to tire themselves, then yank'em in at the point of exhaustion. The time to hammer him is late in the campaign after a couple convictions stick.

Never give Elise Stefanik credit for anything. Our district suffers horrors under her “representation”.

As for DeSantis' strategy of bringing up Vivek's race and religion, as distasteful as it is, it is directly from the GOP playbook going back to Ronald Reagan. So it's hard to single out DeSantis for going by the book.

This has to be the strangest political campaign. It's likely all the butt kissing "candidates" are **really** auditioning for vice president or a cabinet position. The candidates whom I respect and for whom I would consider voting -- Chris Christie, Will Hurd, Asa Hutchinson -- have little chance of. securing the Republican primary in today's Republican Party.

I doubt Ronald Reagan would be elected in today's GOP.

If the current candidates defending The Former Guy are so afraid of their own voters and of The Orange False Idiol's "truths" and they're NOT hoping to be selected as VP or a cabinet official than they lack, IMHO, the integrity, the character, to serve as POTUS.

Charlie and Tim - I completely agree with the end of your podcast today. If the Demacratcs have the chair of the Senate, Why are they not investigating Jared Kushner? Is it Diane Feintstein's health a factor, and if so, fix it! How IS Tommy Tubberville able to undermine our national security? All great questions....it's really seeming that the Dems are in the minority in the Senate. And if there is a reason, it should be communicated to voters.

Joe Klein is absolutely correct: Ds need to hit back harder at the thoroughly unserious R party and their many ridiculous politicians. Pres. Biden should remain above the fray, but campaign surrogates and other national Democrats - offense, offense, offense on the radicalness of today's GOP.
