My sense of doom has grown like a mushroom overnight. I live 5 miles from the Convention Center for the RNC. My son works there often, but declined this work, thank goodness. What was already very challenging for Milwaukeans has suddenly turned into utter stress, especially for workers and police. Welcome Sam, but not the best time to get to know what a lovely city Milwaukee is. Regardless of trump’s gross insults.
This has nothing to do with politics but I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Milwaukee when I visited several years ago when they hosted the Skate America Competition in 2015. I am a native Chicagoan living in Virginia now and met my sister up there- ate a great meal at Mader's( is is still there?) and bought some wonderful spices in a little shop whose name I can not remember. My sister and I grew up skating and attended many competitions - cancer took her from me 3 years ago but I will always have great memories like those in your lovely city. Stay safe up there!
