If it turns out he did what he did because he had come to believe Trump was a Hitler-level threat to the country's future as a democracy, three things are likely to happen: Biden's existing support will not change much ; Trump true-believers will probably become even more inclined to go out and vote; and some undecided's will now swing to Trump out of pity for him. The only possible good that comes from this is that Trump may decide that a nationwide ban on the sale and possession of AR-15's is a really good idea after all.
