True. But these morons donโ€™t think like that. Big man must have big gun to feel like bigger man. โ€˜Muricaโ€ฆ

Def a men-with-guns problem. You don't see women with access to the exact same firearms doing what men do with them at scale (mass-shootings, domestic violence killings, assassinations, etc.).

What do you think of this? My senator, Chris Murphy, has been trying to *solve* the loneliness crisis in America. Itโ€™s interesting, but idk how government involvement will be received in a lot of the places in which the crisis is at its worst.

Hereโ€™s a POLITICO piece on it from last year. There are a bunch of others and videos of Murphy talking about it. It will be great if they can figure out a way to get people involved with each other irl again.

People are always going to slip through the cracks of programs like that. Even during the national AWB of โ€˜94-โ€˜04 we had: North Hollywood Shooting, Columbine, and the DC Sniper, and this was at a time when the modern loneliness problem didnโ€™t exist and AWs were restricted. Before the AWB expired there were something like 10,000 AR-15s in circulation. Now there are 20,000,000 in circulation. Ainโ€™t no putting that genie back into the bottle.

Yeah, there would have to be a MASSIVE buyback campaign and I am not sure if the federal government would have enough money to compensate people for what they think their guns are worth.

There'd also probably be a bunch of Waco/Ruby Ridge-style events if something like that (somehow) managed to make it past a senate filibuster.
