It's hard to put in words how grateful I am for everyone at the Bulwark. The past few years have been very difficult for me in the sense that I have seen friends and even family fall victim to MAGA- a movement which is so clearly in my eyes a complete fraud. One of my favorite movies is The Shadowlands, about C.S. Lewis. One line from that movie that always stuck with me was "We read to know we are not alone." I feel that way about being part of the Bulwark. It is easy to feel alone politically, and it is nice to belong to a group of good, rational people.

I am especially grateful to the Bulwark staff and this community for the safe harbor you all provide, at a time in our nation's history that seems endlessly fraught with danger to the core principles of democracy that unite each of us, regardless of our political ideology.

It's easy to sometimes feel overwhelmed, discouraged, and fatigued by all of it. Yet I read something in this forum every day that inspires me to stay, that reminds me that we are all fighting for what's worth fighting for, not just for ourselves but for our children, grandchildren and all of the generations to come.

And I also welcome the pieces that are not focused on politics - such as Tim's excellent piece last week on non-situational depression, or JVL's "elephants are never bad", and several others that provide a balance to our psyches.

We don't always agree with one another, but the respect that each of us feel for the other is earned and always rewarding.

Thanks everyone, and a special thanks to JVL for creating this atmosphere.
