I’m not sure his is true: it was Israel that entered into a criminal conspiracy with the Reagan Administration to sell Iran missiles, in order for the Reagan Administration to (illegally) fund and support Central American death squads.
It’s hard to make the argument that Iran is the ultimate existential threat … while you’re selling it advanced American missiles.
I know what each of those words means, but I don’t know what that sentence means.
I don’t care what the “consensus” is, what evidence is there for that claim?
Do they have dozens of major military bases throughout the region? No, that’s the US.
Do they hold millions of people under occupation for decades, denying them basic human rights? No, that’s Israel.
Are they forming an “accord” with the most repressive form of Islam, Wahhabism, including countries that funded the worst terrorist attacks in the US and around the world? And spread terrorism to Afghanistan, the UK and as far as Indonesia? No, that’s Saudi Arabia.
So I ask: what evidence is there for Iranian “hegemony”?
The funding of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis? Because their funding is … what … an absurdly tiny fraction of the funding we give to groups to oppose them?
