According to a new poll, swing voters like tough, populist messages such as “Americans who work for a living are being betrayed by superrich elites” and “Americans need to come together and elect leaders who will fight for us all.” (We would probably all agree with these statements to some degree.)

And yet these same voters have been unable or unwilling to notice that TFG is BOTH a "superich elite" (certainly in his own eyes; nobody knows if he has any money) AND a non-leader who fights ONLY for himSELF.

So..... what does one do about THAT?!?

Gallagher is a highly competent politician who - unlike Trumpsters Tom Tiffany and David Clarke or rich guy Eric Hovde - could beat Tammy Baldwin.

Gallagher is smart, presents himself well, and could attract independents and even some Democrats.

The GOP is slowly eating itself by continuing to provide aid and comfort to Trump.

Trump's post began with "NOW THAT THE "SEAL" IS BROKEN" before going on to swear vengeance. Did he enclose the word SEAL in quotation marks as a dog whistle to his followers who believe we are in the End Times and who are eagerly awaiting the Apocalypse? The whole phrase has an Apocalyptic ring to it.

Trump just can't shut up, can he? His attorneys are totally incompetent for letting him get on camera. https://www.politicususa.com/2023/06/13/trump-may-have-gotten-himself-convicted-with-bedminster-speech.html

I increasingly wonder if we don’t aid and abet by talking about him as if he is the cartoon his opponents would like to dismiss. He is a legally accused TRAITOR. There is nothing cartoonish or funny about that. Not one little bit!

Charlie, please stop saying “en fuego” in Spanish for to be “on fire”. There is no such thing in Spanish. You can be “al fuego” or “en el fuego” (sort of, standing on the fire).

I always enjoy the Monday pod with Will, and yesterday's edition did not disappoint. I never practiced criminal law, but this ex-corporate lawyer thinks that you may have underestimated Judge Cannon's ability to damage the case against Trump. Not by dismissing the charges before trial (which should be appealable) but by the myriad actions that every trial judge will take, which can lead to an unappealable acquittal. Some of these actions are obviously significant, such as excluding evidence adduced via Corcoran or giving tendentious jury instructions. But even the judge's expressing her irritation with government counsel or constantly sustaining defense objections can affect both the substance of the case and the attitude of the jury. On top of that, of course, is the very real likelihood that at least one of the jurors will take it upon himself to hang the jury. In short, pace William Barr, I don't think Trump is toast.

Has anyone noticed if Kari Lake or one of the other big mouths bothered to show up when Trump did? My guess - no. As for crowds - saw a guy carrying a huge pig head - why? And the rest? LOL! I've seen more people stopping at a corner for a traffic light in NYC. "The biggest crowd ever!" anticipating his ridiculous speech today. Why is he even allowed to make a speech?

Bolton was talking about the procedures for looking at extremely sensitive documents in a scif, and he said he didn't know how Trump had managed to carry away such documents.

I remember reports of briefers showing classified docs to Trump in the Oval Office and he would decide to keep something after the briefing, and the briefers would kinda look at each other awkwardly and think "Well, he's the president; we can't tell him no." That probably happened many times. And maybe the same thing happened in a scif: "Who's going to say no to the president?"

Republicans -

aren't you the least bit tired of this man's constantly teetering over the twin abysses of public relations catastrophe and seemingly endless legal jeapordy?

Not to mention the risk he presents of bungled American response to crises - like covid, like Russian invasion of Ukraine, like "fire and fury" nuclear-type threats against dictators like Kim Jung Un, only to psychotically switch to "loving" Kim Jung Un, and of course Putin?

How much more of this man's chaos and self-damage can you defend, and put up with?

He's like a bad, bad spouse that abuses you but promises the occasional quick thrill of "he got me flowers and chocolate, everything will be ok now," when you know damn well it won't be.

Break up with him, already.

For Christ's sake (and everyone's).

I am willing to bet my left patootie that the contents of the all-important "My Boxes" Mr. trump refused to turn over to the National Archives will include least some of the CDs, tapes, and photographs that "disappeared" from Jeff Epstein's Manhattan townhouse after the FBI raided it-- specifically, those CDs, tapes, and photographs featuring Mr. Epstein's longtime bff and fellow 90s Nightlife Musketeer, one Donald J. trump.
