I don't know. As the Republican Party has shifted more and more authoritarian over the years, I think there is starting to be some truth in it. Mitch McConnell is a lot of things, most of them bad. He also bears a lot of responsibility for getting us to the point we are at. But all that said, I don't think he's an actual fascist. As the Republican party becomes authoritarian and Putin fan bois, McConnell is become more and more of a RINO.
Being opposed to abortion rights is probably the closest thing the current Republican Party has to a unifying policy objective. Of everyone whoтАЩs not actually on the Supreme Court, McConnell is most responsible for the demise of Roe. HeтАЩs not a member of the Trump personality cult but also refused to end TrumpтАЩs political career when he had a chance to do so during the second impeachment trial. I see McConnell as somewhat like John Roberts, whose very real right-wing commitments are occasionally tempered by simultaneous jealousy of institutional prerogatives.
The notion that Mitch McConnell is a RINO is one of the wildest tropes of recent Trumpist discourse.
