I don't think you can be too harsh on Charlie. He had a lot to do with the evolution of the present-day s**t-show that is the Wisconsin GOP. And now he makes a living offering his mea culpa for it as well as offer Dems advice on who to run and how to campaign. I find his political judgement extremely flawed.

He supported the pre-Trump WI GOP. Is the current WI GOP the same party?

Honestly I canтАЩt speak to it. I doubt it was this crazy but I have a feeling a lot of the legislators are the same as they were 10 years ago. No idea what that means though because I could never ever predict how absolutely bat shit crazy everyone in the party is now.

Mostly yes. Just the pretense of valuing norms, democracy, and their fellow Americans has been stripped away. I suppose Charlie was one of a marginal portion who truly believed in the pretense and left when it was exposed as such but there clearly weren't many like him.

Flawed or not I find that he has done nothing to learn about the Democratic coalition and how messaging and policies differ because of it. The Democratic coalition is not a monolith so you canтАЩt treat Democratic voters like Republican voters. That with the difference in the media ecosystem means there has to be a different approach.
