JVL asks- What more do you people want from Kamala Harris? This is the question of the moment.
Can we now stop the absurd demands of VP Harris to…act presidential, outline every policy she would back etc.. She has done what needs to be done. The focus needs to solely be on the manifest lack of fitness of the candidate who continues to claim that immigrants are eating people’s pets!

Then how *does* she win? If she can’t win with a positive vision of the future of America, policy proposals that put the middle class first, being a stable and commanding presence, having the experience of being a DA, an AG, a Senator, and the VP, and making it clear on the biggest of stages that she is levelheaded and ready to lead our nation, what would it take to win?
True, winning the debate doesn’t mean she’ll win the election, but what could she do that she hasn’t *already* done? Be very specific.
Continue to register new Democratic voters. Double down on the message that she believes in the rule of law (no line jumping for undocumented immigrants) and she will try to push through the bipartisan Lankford immigration bill that Trump killed. Recognize inflation hurt a lot of middle class people but interest rates are coming down and inflation was an artifact of restarting the economy post Covid, andher DOJ will be diligent about price fixing by supermarkets and food cos. Admit that global warming cannot be cured overnight and that reduction of the reliance on fossil fuels will take time and the development of better technologies. Acknowledge that young people have a difficult time now because of high housing prices etc. and propose low cost loans for 1st time home buyers subsidized by govt-bank partnerships. Vow to raise the maximum income that will be subject to Social Security to 1 million/ yr. Forget about the closeted Trump voters posing as "undecided" voters
Undocumented immigrants don't line jump. They work at the worst jobs for less than minimum wage. Sure I bet you could find Americans who would work in a chicken packaging plant, but not for $3 hour. That's why chicken is cheap and good fast food.
The fact that they work at terrible jobs for low wages isn't the point. I'm talking about beating Trump, not social policy. Anything that smacks of unfairness or line jumping is kryptonite to moderate voters. That's why student loan debt reduction and affirmative action are so poorly perceived. The same is true with undocumented immigrants. They are viewed by legal immigrants and their descendants as unfairly gaming the system. Go ahead and bay at the moon about that if you like, but that won't win elections.
I just ran through Niall Stanage's tooling summary of the debate, the top five moments for each candidate. He is scrounging for positives to say about Trump, and similarly stumped on what negatives he can bring to bear on Harris.
NYT just ran an article on "undecided" voters they've been following.
"Voters want change-Harris didn't distinguish herself". "Need more specific policy proposals". "needs to speak more about costs and inflation". "Trump's pitch was more convincing". "When Trump was in office, I was living better". "Trump had the more commanding presentation".
Here it is folks. People equating the fact that Trump was in office pre-pandemic with the lower inflation we saw as somehow being his doing. Trump being a man simply makes him more commanding. Trump's pitch (whatever that is) somehow convincing voters that he 1) has a handle on and a plan for everything and 2) cares about voters.
As my wife likes to say; "you can't fix stupid". I don't like to talk ill about people, but c'mon, if those are your takeaways, what can I say? "I need to hear more about Harris' policy proposals." Never mind that Trump only has "concepts of plans" or is straight-up talking about a 20% tax on imported goods. A tax that consumers will pay. It's as if these undecideds see him as the Messiah: elect him and all will somehow work out as ordained by God. Everyone else needs detailed policy proposals and 20 different think tank analyses.
I think many Undecideds are really decided and know who they’ll vote for. They say they’re Undecided in order to be interviewed and quoted in the press, be featured on tv or internet, or be selected to participate in a paid focus group. Undecided voters may say they need more information in order to decide but they may not be truthful. If you are truly an undecided voter (Harris vs Trump) at this point, you’ve just come out into the sunlight after spending 10 years without media of any kind.
MSNBC had a piece featuring a ‘live focus group’ of Phoenix area “undecideds” shortly after the end of the debate. While one such alleged undecided voter stated she was pretty convinced that Harris had won her over, another woman was convinced ‘she could not vote for Harris’ because of ‘her policies’ and that she would vote for neither candidate (Read: she will hold her nose and vote for Trump). Two young men were also interviewed. One, identified as an immigrant, said his family immigrated “the right way” and blamed democrats for the border, and said he would still ‘lean Trump’. Another young man said he came in ‘leaning Trump’ and if he had to vote today, he would still vote Trump. In summary they were interviewing folks purported to be ‘undecided voters’ amongst whom subsequent 30 second interviews showed to almost all be Trump voters who for some reason wished to be seen as “undecided” . So I’m just bloviating for a bit before saying, I agree with you 100%
I want her to send JD Vance a Christmas card of her and Taylor Swift holding Taylor's cats in front of a big Christmas tree. Season's Greetings from the childless cat ladies.

That may feel satisfying, but I don't think it is the way for her to win, unfortunately.

NADA!

All in all, a good night was had by all.

‘20 different think tank analyses’ that they will not read….argh!
That rich guy in a nice suit seems really angry. He must be on to something. He has my vote. -50% of America
Undecided voters who vote for Donald are indeed proof of “you can’t fix stupid.” A sad state of our country.

I'm suggesting that Sarah affix "You can't fix stupid" as the title of every undecided focus group from here on in.
Could not agree more. Where do they find these people???
I saw some post debate "undecided" voters and the two leaning trump people were young men. Where are their parents?? 😱🤬
At home cleaning their MAGA hats.
Wow, that NYT article is demoralizing.
"Good luck, America."
WaPo had a similar one out today that wasn't nearly as bad as the NYT.
