Yeah, I don't think I agree with that. Bail that is "unaffordable" is set all the time if the crime is serious AND the person is deemed a flight risk. But the irony of the 8th Amendment is while bail can't be "excessive" (for example a judge setting bail at $1 billion) it can be denied altogether under the right circumstances.
