Been knocking doors for two Georgia state house candidates every weekend this summer and can confirm that Democratic voters are indeed aware of Project 2025, even if they don't know it by that name. I've grown used to the reaction I get when I ask Dems about the issues they're most concerned about. They just roll their eyes and say, "Everything."

Good for you, CG, but are you only knocking on "known" Democratic voters' doors? If not, it would be instructive to know Republican-identifying individuals reactions.

GOTV (get out the vote) is the purpose, but our lists often include Independents or voters about which the campaign has no data. There are also families that have both Dem and Republican voters, so you do run into Republicans occasionally.

Many times Republican voters don't want to talk to Dem canvassers, but I talked with a woman the other day who was convinced that Trump supported education, which would be beneficial for her grandchildren. When I mentioned that he was threatening to eliminate the Department of Education she countered that he simply meant to change it and after all he had not eliminated it in his last term. She was very unhappy with the public schools in her upscale neighborhood and her kids and grandkids went to private schools. Wish I had asked more questions about that--people move to that neighborhood so their kids can go to those schools. I talked with another voter that day who had done that.

She was also convinced that the economy would crash under a Dem administration because they will take money away from people like her and give it to the undeserving. Maintained Trump "promotes the middle class." Then of course Kamala was for open borders and had let criminals who were illegal immigrants go free.

C,G, thank you very much for the detailed information. It is clear that not all those who think OCF is the best thing since sliced bread are low-income hilly-billies as some think. The fact that he did not do X the first time around, we know, is absolutely no indicator he won't the second time, but, as with any cult, if you want to belileve, nothing will convince you (especially after eight-ten years of drinking the kool-aid) that you are, and have been, wrong.

Yes. Canvassing, unless it's deep canvassing [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qk7wTCnNUw4], is best for turning out voters.

I was visited by a middle aged woman knocking on doors for a candidate in a local election for the school board. I asked if she had concerns about her safety. She said the volunteers were trained to always tell other volunteers what street they were on, have their cars visible , wear a county election volunteer t shirt, and only go to registered Democrats with recent voting history. IтАЩd rather the volunteers be safe and work to GOTV.

PS Thanks Chelseagirl for volunteering!

You're welcome! We canvass with a group (it's more fun that way) and always in pairs or trios. There's a group text string for questions, issues, and to notify the canvassing organizer when you're finished. We skip anyplace that looks sketchy and mark it on the MiniVAN cell phone app that keeps track of our progress. Your partner has the same list loaded and you can see each other's results and general location. Not foolproof, but you're not just out stomping around in the weeds.

I always encourage people to try canvassing--it's fascinating and you'll learn a ton about your own city.
