I laughed when Musk's criticism of Gates was about Gates' relationship with Epstein. Tha relationship does not look very good, obviously, but that's the best that Musk could come up with? Really wish the interviewer had come back with "Like Donald Trump's relationship with Epstein?"

He most certainly has “done enough,” using DOGE to dismantle and disrupt every department of our government while further enriching himself, eliminating all investigations into his companies, and stealing our data for Vladimir Putin. We may never recover.

Putting aside the always disturbing and horrific Trump et al content, I thoroughly enjoyed the "Sam and Tim" banter. Sam, I also agree about your constant interruptions but loved your reaction to it all. It's been a while since I was able to laugh at The Bulwark content.

I don't understand why people don't just respond to him and Trump with the reality of things. (In this instance they couldn't, but there are instances where people can). People going to Epstein's Island hasn't bothered you until now.

DOGE has been wildly successful - at its true goals. Elon stole all the data and severely compromised computing systems across the entire government (the Berulis whistleblowing documents are insane). Vought (now in charge, always a player) has been using DOGE as the mechanism to advance P2025 objectives of shrinking the government, including destroying science, cancelling contracts, and tormenting employees. This is still ongoing under Vought but he is just less flashy and more sinister. The ongoing second wave of cuts is slower than the first but will cut much deeper.

Tim and Sam, Thanks for the reporting and commentary. Musk said

he's done enough. Enough what? Damage. I'm convinced if this creepy character would have stayed out of politics this last election the result would have been different. Doge was a catastrophic endeavor that did indeed kill people. Tim mentioned Musk's erratic behavior and I agree drugs should be suspected. Will we ever know what these people did with all the data they collected? Again, and I can't stress this point enough, the silence of the Republicans in congress in every facet of this administration crimes renders them as accomplices in the crimes perpetrated on the American people.

Dear Representative Raul Ruiz,

I am writing to you as a deeply concerned constituent and proud American who values our Constitution, our democratic institutions, and our hard-won freedoms.

I am outraged by the recent bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 18, 2025, which, among other provisions, limits federal courts’ ability to hold government officials—including former President Donald Trump—in contempt for defying court orders, and blocks courts from issuing national injunctions to prevent potentially unlawful actions by the executive branch.

These provisions are not just radical—they are dangerous. They fundamentally upend the balance of power that has kept tyranny in check since our founding. Courts must retain their power to enforce the law and defend citizens from abuse. Removing this check is an invitation to authoritarianism.

Even more chilling are the echoes of history that this bill conjures. In the 1930s, Adolf Hitler used similar tactics to dismantle Germany’s democracy. By neutering the courts and arresting critics, he created a regime that silenced dissent and targeted anyone who dared speak out. If we allow our courts to be stripped of their authority and critics of the administration to be vulnerable to retaliation, we are walking a similarly dangerous path.

Freedom of speech and judicial independence are the cornerstones of a free society. No president—past, present, or future—should be above the law or able to rule unchecked. These provisions must not stand.

I urge you to take a stand, speak out, and work to repeal these authoritarian measures and protect the democratic institutions that safeguard our liberty. History is watching—and so are your constituents.

Respectfully,

Clarissa Bartolini Toro, American Grandma

Voter and Defender of American Democracy

I agree it looked as if Elmo was unmedicated or cycling down. I assume the prior manic highs we have seen are due to psych meds/ketamine/uncontrolled bipolar disorder. But he is flat and belligerent here, which could be from unmedicated mental health problems v being off Ketamine and/or his ASD showing through. He was pretty spectral here and had zilch neurotypical emotional connection with the interviewer, which is pretty ASD. Stephen Miller is similar.

I think it's funny that people act like Elon is this great businessman, and as we've all seen, he can't run an agency, let alone a business.

The same could be said of Trump. He's all bluster and talk, and in the end he has a terrible vision for America, and has poorly managed the country in the same way Elon mismanaged DOGE.

I was thinking we should start calling it "Xitter" and when somebody posts something, you can say they "Xitted it out". Or "Xat it out"? I think the first one.

Sooo, if Elon is cutting back on political spending, say for instance House and Senate Rethuglican primaries, does that mean there's a small small chance some R Congress cult members will start to grow some spine or other appropriate body parts? Just wondering.
