This is what drives me crazy when conservatives claim they're being silenced and the media has a liberal bias. Can you even imagine the National Review regularly giving their editorial page over to liberals or leftists? It would never happen.

Nevermind that "liberal" press orgs routinely host abhorrent conservative points of view. Nevermind that conservative content dominates social media in terms of popularity. Nevermind that Fox is the largest tv news network by far and many local news sources are owned by conservative conglomerates. Somehow it's conservative voices who are being oppressed.

Unfortunately, the economics of outrage reign supreme. If and until those incentives change, we will continue to live with the paper of record and other outlets serving the quest for the almighty dollar rather than the public trust. [heavy sigh]

But those whiny conservative claims about liberal media bias are working for them. The mainstream media is completely cowed, and super cautious now.

Part of the reason is those voters probably spend more time watching TV, and that means advertisers want them to keep watching. Doesn't it always come down to money.

Somewhat true for print media too when headlines are more provocative than the article justifies. “Click bait”. Same motivation as with TV; advertising dollars. That’s why one of my limited monthly donations is to public media.

And there is zero, and I mean literally zero time spent anywhere about trying to "understand" or "empathize" with non-Trump voters. So much of the media behaves in a way that would make you believe that the Trump voter is somehow more valuable, like they count for two votes or sit on some sort of Council of Elrond. The rest of us can go to hell, I guess.

I hate it when Sarah Palin, Lauren Boebert, Magaheads (et al) say "REAL Americans."

I am real!

It’s easy to understand non-Trump voters so no need to interview quinoa eating green tea drinkers taxpayers. It’s the Trump lovers who are unfathomable to us.

Not just more valuable, but Trump supporters are also "victims" of some kind. Persecuted, maligned, misunderstood, so the rest of us must all learn to understand and empathize where Trump voters are coming from -- but it's never the same in the reverse. We are the oppressors and they are the oppressed. Or something.

Since at least the 1990's the right wing propaganda machine has been feeding their base the message that 'conservatives' are 'oppressed' and liberals, Democrats, and the "deep state" are all out to get them.
