There is a glut of theatrical movies when you factor in mainstream and arthouse/indie films. Now compress too many movies within the summer time frame with high ticket prices.. and the economy don't forget restaurants are in trouble in many cities. People are broke. People with money start to sit on their money for "the best choice", too…

Now before the what about ism of the internet and the howler monkeys, and pandemic conspiracists kick in. Let us recall a period from the before times 'The Summer of 2017' people have forgotten the lessons of that. All failure is cyclical AND there have been too many movies for most of the 21st Century.
Streaming will only make this worse.. End the glut. Rant over. :)
