"I hate him passionately,"
"That's the last four years. We're all pretending we've got a lot to show for it, because admitting what a disaster it's been is too tough to digest. But come on. There isn't really an upside to Trump."
These latest texts feel particularly devastating, not only are they from before Jan 6th, but also express open personal animosity to Trump and state that the whole presidency was a failure. Clearly, though, the big problem is most people who like Tucker and like Trump are never going to see these. My big idea of the morning is that, if there was a campaign to rent cheaper billboards in Trumpy rural areas across the country and display these messages, it might be at least somewhat effective, at least raising some questions among Trumpist people (“just asking questions”). At best, a certain percentage of those that see the signs might become disillusioned with the whole movement, at worst it at least causes a bit of a headache for one of the worst people in America (Tucker, of course). Not sure on the legal aspects of this, but I’d certainly pitch in some money and time if this effort ever got off the ground.
There is an immediate opportunity for direct action. VoteVets.org has a new ad released 3/6/23 called "Ban" advocating that Fox News be banned from being shown on TV's on US military bases and facilities due to their support for the J6 insurrection. They are seeking donations so they can disseminate it as widely as possible. Check it out on their website and donate if you feel so inclined.
It is now abundantly clear that Murdoch, Fox, and Carlson care for nothing but money. They were all terrified of losing viewership because it affected what they could charge for advertising. Someone should start a public campaign to boycott all companies that advertise on Carlson's show. Brand their advertisers as supporting treasonous violent insurrection. That would drive a stake through their heart if effective.
He barely has any advertisers already. Fox doesn't even need ads to stay in business. They make the majority of their money from carriage fees from the cable providers
I know Spectrum down here in Florida has an option to choose 15 cable channels on your plan as opposed to a la carte, for a discount, and i hope that not including them absolves me from that at least!
I'm wishing to see some brave Fox "News" staff person stand up behind Tucker holding a sign saying "Carlson says he hates Trump Passionately!. Says his four years in office were a Disaster!" If they can do it in Russia.......
Sorry to rain on your parade, but I suspect even Faux News has seen that clip a couple of times and has precautions in place to prevent it happening here.
Welcome! You’re off to a great start! I’m with you on the billboard idea, the only way most of the Fox viewership will ever find out about Fox’s real views and how they’ve been lied to to keep their money coming.
Welcome to the Bulwark! I go out and post on FoxNews daily and can tell you that posters, like myself (anti-Fox/Trump), are becoming more and more numerous and definitely communicate to the pro-Fox posters what we are seeing as news that they are not. Fox has definitely been shuttering any reporting of this Dominion lawsuit news. The pro-Fox response continues to dwindle as they are mostly diehards or what look to be bots posting generic "Trump/Fox good; Biden/Dems bad" posts.
I've been doing that also. Some people get upset. The cognitive dissonance is getting more difficult to contain. Still, the large majority of Carlson's followers don't want to let go. He is Jim Jones to them.
Thank you both for trying something to make a small dent in the endless propaganda. I don't have any idea how to present reality to the massive cable tv audience that never even looks or speaks outside their social bubble.
I used to be one who drank the Fox kool-aid so I like to think of it as trying to "save" them, but, of course, it never happens....but EXACTLY like you expressed...I'm planting seeds of truth. They may take a while to sprout but that's ok....
Welcome to the Bulwark+ community, a lifesaver for many of us. I love your idea and have often thought that billboards or other non-electronic ways of planting seeds of truth might be the way to break through the false information fortress they (Trump/Fox, etc.) have built. All we need are a few choice quotations and money to make it happen.
Anyone on here on Truth Social? (I couldn't bring myself to join) Perhaps it might be an idea to post these quotes on it, just to make sure ol' Trumpie DOES get to see them.
I am pretty sure that Trump pays a LOT of attention to social media--more attention than he ever paid to stupid things like national security briefings when he was President.
Narcissist that he is, he would be constitutionally unable to not look at things that are about him.
The real problem with your billboard idea is that the yokels in the area where they are posted won't believe they are accurate portrayals of what was said. Perhaps if you overlayed an enlarged version of the "quotees" signature with the addendum "Tucker (or whomever), if this is not something you said and this is not your signature, prove it in court and I will gladly give you every cent I have."
Don't worry; you won't be taken up on it, and would be crowd-funded to death if you were.
This reminds me of a story my father told told me 50 years ago about a memo that was sent out to everyone in his department. Everyone who received saw it as having ridiculous and harmful content. One of the recipients returned to memo to the sender with this message written at the bottom: Look at what some asshole sent me and signed your name to.
I'm no lawyer, but given that the speech in question is political and presumably not disputed in court by Tucker or Fox, I can't see how it would be a problem.
I'd want to make sure someone with deep pockets had my back before posting it, just because a baseless lawsuit from Tucker would be a challenge even if it had zero merit.
These people rely upon the fact that they usually have a lot more money and better lawyers than the people coming after them--it stops a lot of people from trying to take them on ITFP. The higher standards required to take on a media company for things like defamation also have a chilling effect.
The thing with Fox is that we literally have these people admitting to being liars and talking about how they actually need to lie in order to retain their audience.
The biggest laugh in the whole thing is that they refer to this as "respecting" their audience. I don't think that you are respecting me all that much if you are lying to me--if you do not think that I can handle the actual truth.
And the REALLY sad part is that a lot of these viewers CANNOT handle the truth--and don't even have a real clue as to what the truth is. Not because they don't have access to it, but because they DO NOT WANT IT.
One of the largest safe spaces in this country (Fox) exists to "safeguard" the people who bitch about safe spaces.
here is your meme (it may be somewhat dated, which I guess dates me):
In the movie A Few Good Men, Jack Nicholson's character has the famous line You can't handle the truth.
You need a photo of Tucker (actually of all the major Fox "opinion" stars--a separate image for each) in a pose reminiscent of the famous WW1 Uncle Sam recruiting poster (with the pointing finger and direct and challenging gaze) with "You can't handle the truth" in big bold letters.
use THAT as your billboard. Post it all over the internet, especially in places frequented by the Fox audience.
I have always liked the idea of using billboards for these kinds of messages. It bypasses other media formats. If I had the money, I would plaster a lot of billboards with info counteracting the lies the right wing exposes themselves to. Many will ignore the info, but it will still worm its way into their brains.
I agree. People are becoming immune to electronic messages on their devices; I delete and block, without reading them. Billboards would be more effective and less intrusive.

Perhaps word is spreading on social media, Twitter and such. The quotes are so extreme, so shocking—I was blown away—they are bound to break through.
It is not if they are heard, it is whether they would be believed by the diehard lemmings.

If you pay for cable you are funding fox news
I know Spectrum down here in Florida has an option to choose 15 cable channels on your plan as opposed to a la carte, for a discount, and i hope that not including them absolves me from that at least!
Then we'll have to do something else. Check out my other comment about the new ad from VoteVets.org.

Don’t forget “Says he’s a demonic force, a destroyer!” I share your wish.

Oh! Wish I had seen your comment before I posted mine! Obviously great minds think alike!
Welcome, DH! This is a good place to hang around. And your idea is an excellent one. Hope someone picks it up.
Welcome to Bulwark+! It’s a great place to be.

Very brave of you and a really good idea. Plant seeds of facts and normality everywhere.

Really! What a transformation for you. How did it happen?

Quotes for a billboard, how about "Go, Tucker! - Trump IS a F-lop. . . !"
Since these are just screen shots of texts, it's easy for the right to just say they are made up.
I initially thought that the base would never see these internal messages but Bannon and Trump are drawing attention to them
I partially think that's some of the reason Tucker is doing the Jan 6th stuff this week. To try and drown out the news of his disloyalty
As soon as Trump sees those messages he'll throw Tuckems under the bus without missing a beat
Anyone on here on Truth Social? (I couldn't bring myself to join) Perhaps it might be an idea to post these quotes on it, just to make sure ol' Trumpie DOES get to see them.

Are Swanson frozen dinners really cat meat? Just asking questions....
Ouch!

Mary, this wins Best Story of the Day. Can't wait to pass it on (WITH attribution!).

That's good. Especially since the faux conservatives likely take Jack's side in that movie.
Well... I AM someone with degrees in both art and rhetoric ;)
People think that rhetoric is a BS area of study--but that is because they do not understand what it actually is.
And the ideological nature of Jack's character was part of why that character/trope was chosen ;)
Some shit just throws itself in front of you to be used.

Like the Burma-Shave poems and puns of the '50's.
It helped the miles go by!
