I’m an advanced boomer, and frankly, I’ve been waiting for the youth core to wake the hell up. When I was their age I was out protesting and marching and working hard for women’s rights, against the Vietnam war etc. And I know there are young people involved but where are they, they’re not making the kind of noise we did back then. As a 74 year old former elected official for 14 years, I totally agree with the movement towards a new generation of elected officials. But I believe these discussions should be intentional and done with forethought. In other words, when recruiting a Roy Cooper for example, he should be made aware, that his party support comes with the caveat that he will be a winning “Placeholder” while his state cultivates a quality replacement. The Dems need to nurture a Long vision for the future. No more RBG, no more Dianne Feinsteins, Connellys and no more Bidens.
