Glaring at the camera with a droopy eye. Charming. Sure looks like he's had a stroke. He won't last 4 years (from my lips to God's ear, not that I'm looking forward to President Vance.) That which we feared is upon us, and perversely, that takes care of my anxiety. Now I get busy resisting. Be of good cheer, everyone. Worry and anxiety won't fix a thing.

He does. No medical records available, though. His eye is not controlled and the right side of his face is drooping. In addition, he has had trouble with his right leg, dragging his foot, for some time. It's amazing how the honor system has brought down the country. He refuses to comply and <shrug>. And this is a photo designed to make him look GOOD.

I made the same medical prediction in 2016. I hope yours does better!

We walk in hope, do we not?

What other path is there? We can wallow in self-pity or try to somehow in some little way make things better. I long ago gave up the idea of changing the world, but I have helped good things along. It's like the starfish on the beach, it mattered to that one.

Once again he does something that I see as just laughable - this portrait now - but I have to remind myself that millions will swoon over it.

I noticed the same thing—what’s up with the eye? Is he having TIA’s?

JD Vance is nothing if not malleable. If he rises to POTUS, maybe his legacy will come calling with suggestions of benevolence? I’m really grasping at straws here.

Don't forget-Trump had COVID, bigly.

His lungs ain't as good as they used to be as a result, his circulatory system clogged with fast food fat.

Two strikes?

Maybe...

Don’t get your hopes up. All that free-flowing spite in his veins could keep him alive for years. Heaven won’t have him and Hell is afraid he’ll take over.

Don’t Despair Just Yet

Save it for NEVER.

I honestly can't believe you people.

Despair is normal, given the circumstances. When we see a crack, a chink in Trump’s armor that we can exploit, that will be a reason for hope. That day will come. But as of the moment, he’s riding high. He’s the victor and he’s beaten us bad. The American people have chosen him and rejected us. Of course we feel despair.

Here are two posts that discuss real chinks in Trump's armor. The Attorneys General of 21 blue states are huddling to prepare to sue Trump's initiatives at every turn.

He hasn't beaten us badly—he has barely beaten us. There has been an oscillation between the two parties in the 21st century, because NEITHER of them is solving the basic problems of the American people. The Democrats will get their chance to fail again in 2028. I'm writing a post about the inadequacy of both parties, but it isn't ready yet.

Despair is a close relative of mourning and acceptance. A necessary step to moving on to the possible. The battle (which has felt like a war) is lost for now. We cannot change the malicious incompetence that will be the driving force in the upcoming administration. We can do our part in how we live our lives and make differences locally. But evil is in the driver's seat and the only thing possible is making ourselves physically and mentally strong for what comes. That way we may be ready to grab opportunities when they present themselves. But there are no obvious routes to reversing our backwards slide for the time being.

Mourning ends in acceptance. Disappointment should end in defiance. Don't obey in advance. Don't give up in advance.

I admit we do not have tools to reverse MAGA, but we do have tools to slow it down radically. Here are two posts that discuss real chinks in Trump's armor. The Attorneys General of 21 blue states are huddling to prepare to sue Trump's initiatives at every turn.

I think a bit of despair is healthy. For a short time. And when that's done, we press on.
