Trump’s supporters wanted names, accountability, and a redemptive conspiracy arc. Instead, they got deflection and dodging. Tim and Katie break down the Epstein fallout and why the MAGA base is more outraged than ever.

Tim is the best thing happening to Katie and she interrupts while he is talking to ask her producer if David Boies “is ready”.
Smh
It was a right wing conspiracy because it is the right-wingers who are creators and distributors of conspiracy theories.
let's all admit it's probably not a great idea to look to the 'manosphere' when we need the hosts/influencers to call out abusive behavior toward girls and women - maybe his relationship with Epstein didn't bother them as much as it bothers people who think of girls/women as fellow human beings deserving of rights to fully participate in society, economies, exercising bodily autonomy, and positions of power/leadership
Tim, why not mention that the Republican blocked the release of the Epstein files:
https://www.newsweek.com/who-voted-epstein-files-block-full-list-republicans-2099146
And his biographer claims to have seen photos of Trump with topless girls of uncertain age:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ive-seen-photos-of-topless-girls-of-an-uncertain-age-sitting-on-trumps-lap-says-biographer/ar-AA1GfaD8
This is a Republican Party cover-up!
Why would anyone read anything by Douche-a-witz?
I have been diving on Epstein too and glanced at his Wikipedia page (because I use it to get the bullet points, not for the historical accuracy) and in the "Personal Life" section Wikipedia lists Katie Couric as one of his party friends along with Donal Trump and Woody Allen. Wikipedia is doing her dirty and she should figure out how to edit herself off of it.
It is striking that, amidst all the tears, wailing and gnashing of far-right teeth over the Epstein case, you almost never - if ever - hear someone like Alex Jones or Megyn Kelly or Pam Bondi or Kash Patel or Dan Bongino talk about the girls victimized here. It’s all about “who can we punish, especially any Democrats”. It’s never about how do we ensure justice and hopefully healing and yes compensation for these victims’ suffering.
It’s almost like Trump’s base doesn’t actually care about girls being horribly abused like this. It’s almost as if they only cared about Democratic politicians’ or voters’ scalps.
Of course it's only about protecting Emperor Asshole. They were all in on the avowed pussy-grabber and proven sex offender, and have only ever mentioned the victims in order to ridicule them.
I love the wallpaper, Tim!
Also, the guest after Tim on Couric's show was very interesting if you want to go watch him. He is an attorney who has represented several of the victims and explains the frustration on people involved in this being identified and evidence against them not being acted upon or years and years. Money should not protect these people. Another reason we need campaign reform here. No one should be able to get away with horrible crimes because they can contribute chunks of money to campaigns.
My thoughts on his suppression are twofold: he's in it, and doesn't want his base to know that he is in it (not that anyone would be surprised). Or, he knows who else is in it and wants to leverage that as a threat to gain selected compliance. I'm certain there are other reasons.
THEY'RE HEEEEERRRE .. where else would they be? https://bsky.app/profile/opsan.bsky.social/post/3lu2i5pmjxk2i 😜
All I can say is: What List? https://bsky.app/profile/opsan.bsky.social/post/3ltu2et2agk2n 🤪
MAGA wanted Trump to ride in like Samson, tearing down the Epstein temple with one golden comb-over. Instead, he handed them a press release blaming Obama and wandered off like a confused uncle at a QAnon barbecue.
They prayed for judgment day and got a timeshare presentation.
🤣
I don't know. I'm beginning to think this might create actual cracks in the foundation.
What is startling about this podcast is Katie Couric's lack of understanding about the breadth of attention that Epstein has in Trumplandia and the bro-brah sphere. Maybe it's an age thing, and her history at the top of the mainstream media. Her cluelessness aligns with Dems cluelessness overall.
It would be like the Grateful Dead, after 25 years came out and said they were lip syncing and Jerry Garcia was playing air guitar the whole time. You're gonna have some pissed off Dead Heads
Alan Dershowitcz was involved too. Listen to Tara Palmeri's Podcast "Broken" where she (in 2020) reviewed the evidence alongside Virginia Guiffre. You hear directly from Virginia in a calm, quiet voice (Rest in Power Sis 💙) the details of the years of abuse. They go to several witnesses home (chef and driver) and get personal memories from the driver. These girls (at the time) were abused and humiliated daily and all of these powerful people either participated or covered for it or ignored it, including tRump and Dershowitcz among others. It's disgusting that only one person is in jail, although how tRump is going to shut HER up is going to be interesting. Pardon?? Another "Suicide"? She's already filled for a new trial on the basis of his comments this week. I mean if it's a "conspiracy" created by the Democrats then she deserves a new trial...right Donnie?? 🤔 Just asking questions....
Hey Dersh .. if a crime has been committed, isn't an attorney required to report it to the Court?
I just watched Couric’s interview with victims’ attorney David Boies—it starts on her Substack video at about 27:30. Boeis doesn’t say anything earth shattering, but he does make some points clear that I hadn’t picked up in my casual encounters with Epstein stories — namely, that no one is going after the named co-conspirators. And then he didn’t name them. I guess everyone is terrified of getting sued?
The co-conspirators ARE named on page 5 of the non-prosecution agreement (NPA) that then-US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Alexander Acosta made with Epstein, and you can find a pdf of it by going to https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/6184602/Jeffrey-Epstein-non-prosecution-agreement.pdf
Interestingly, Ghislaine is NOT one of the named co-conspirators at that time.
This is signed 2007
Yes, Epstein’s first prosecution ended in a super sweet, sketchy deal for himself in 2007 where he basically phoned in some jail time (got to leave during the day). The crimes he was originally charged with happened in 2002 or 2003, I think.
From Wikipedia:
In 2017, "a former senior White House official" reported that Alexander Acosta, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida who had handled Epstein's criminal case in 2008, had stated to interviewers of President Donald Trump's first transition team: "I was told Epstein 'belonged to intelligence' and to 'leave it alone'", and that Epstein was "above his pay grade".
Here’s a gift-article from The NY Times with more info on those named co-conspirators. Apparently they may have been underage when they first met Epstein, themselves, so I guess it’s trickier to charge them, but certainly they were involved. I think I read this article when it first appeared but totally forgot about it because the Epstein saga hasn’t been of interest to me. But it sure is now. I really want to know why Trump do a sudden 180 on the whole thing!! https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/29/nyregion/jeffrey-epstein-ghislaine-maxwell.html?unlocked_article_code=1.XE8.U5DH.6q6fXv_xXj6E&smid=url-share
The Dems just called a vote in the House calling for the release of the files. Every Republican voted AGAINST it.
The MAGA women must feel even more protected now.
He’s already been elected, Tim. He doesn’t need them anymore.
Check out how Jaime Raskin has been talking about this.
Democrats don't need to talk about Epstein directly. They should stay on higher ground. This is an example of how the rich get away with crimes. There are probably things just like this going on right now. Why isn't the DOJ looking at that and potentially investigating that?
Well, those rich people are generally Republicans.
Trump has rapidly gutted the enforcement of anti-corruption laws. This seems to be one of those rare things (like tariffs) that he is sincerely committed to. Why would he make an exception for the Epstein case? This could present an opportunity for Democrats to point more broadly to Trump's efforts to make the world safe for corruption.
Sucks to be on the side that plays by the rules. It'll get better.
I like the higher ground idea. Easier to pour the gasoline from there.
This was a great segment today with two of my faves 😊 Thank you for this and all of your content. I found my way to substack because of you so thank you for that as well!
Thanks for remembering the victims. You're the first people I have heard even mention them.
